The third Vietnam School of Biology (VSOB-3)

Starts: 06 December, 2024

Ends: 08 December, 2024

Address:

07 Science Avenue, Ghenh Rang, Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh, Vietnam

Summary:

The biology/biotechnology in agriculture, medicine, industry and environment have been contributing to breakthroughs in science and technology and the development of the Vietnamese economy at the moment and in the future. Vietnam School of Biology (VSOB) was established in the series of schools in ICISE, Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh and sponsored by Rencontres du Vietnam. The main role of VSOB is to provide new and modern knowledge, techniques and approaches in the field of biology/biotechnology to undergraduates, postgraduates and young scientists in Vietnam and abroad for enhancing scientific research capacity. Additionally, VSOB is also the venue for meetings/workshops/conferences between Vietnamese and worldwide scientists in the field of biology/biotechnology.

The third Vietnam School of Biology (VSOB-3)

The third VSOB will be devoted to a training course at theoretical and practical levels with the topic: “Bioinformatic analysis for bulk RNA-seq data”.

Course description

RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) has a broad range of applications from basic molecular research to clinical science. A growing number of publications highlights the importance of gene expression and transcriptomic profiling in understanding molecular mechanisms and genetic characteristics. This course offers a comprehensive overview of RNA sequencing experiments and hands-on practical RNA-Seq data analysis using a bulk RNA-seq from a gene expression study of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Course objectives

Participants are familiar with and can use and apply modern bioinformatics technologies used in RNA sequencing research. Hands-on practical sessions will cover how to process raw sequencing data, including quality control, trimming, alignment, counting, normalization to Differential Expression Gene (DEG) and Pathway-Based Analysis.
